Şirinci - best wine in the cute village.

February 20, 2018

Şirince is a charming classic Aegean village in the mountains near by Izmir and Selcuk. It attracts lots of tourists with the narrow, stone-grounded roads and super-cute houses, but mostly with the famous winehouses where you can taste and buy extended varieties of wine of excellent quality and especially fruit wines made of all possible fruits and berries.

You can try home-made wine in almost any shop. You will be offered a set of at least 6-8 varieties.

We should also mention sparkling wines Sirince. A sparkling rose is simply delicious.

Charming narrow streets full of cafes, wine houses, restaurants ...

Here you can try traditional Turkish salads and pastries with cottage sweet cheese.  All the cottage cheese in Turkey is salted, and only in the region of the Aegean Sea a sweet cottage cheese is common thing.

For those who more up to spiritual food there are 2 churches: Church of St John the Baptist and Church of St Demetrius (both XVIII century).

This place is filled with mysticism. The legend has that near by there used to be the Virgin Mary's house.  Therefore, there are always a lot of pilgrims.  Oh, by the way! It was very funny when the village was filled with hundreds of people to survive the apocalypse predicted by the Mayans, which was to happen on 21.12.2012. :)))) For some reason, it was decided that this would be the only place. The residents of Siringi received a two-year income in a week. :)) But nothing happend, as you may see.

But still there are still lots of mediums and spiritual leaders, fortune tellers and yoga classes.

Seems like they are being enlightened with satellite. Here there you can see satellite plates with writings: "Taro and coffee fortune telling, palm reading, bioenergy refilling, soul relaxation". And other same promising things.

The name of the medium on the plate is Alex. Nothing got to do with me! :)))

But for any case... don't forget to drop the coin to the fountain of Virgin Mary and make a wish.

What else can you get from this village: different types of honey and jams (pay attention to sakiz receli - jam made of mastic), handcrafted scarfs and home textile, silk and cashmere, handmade soaps and so on.  But most of all fill your eyes with beautiful views and make gorgeous pictures!
